Yosemite Falls is the fifth-highest waterfall in the world. Its three separate falls drop a total of 2,425 feet.
The waterfall is formed by the waters of Yosemite Creek, which originates from melting snow and springs in the high Sierra Nevada mountains. The creek flows through the park, cascading down a series of three separate falls, collectively known as Yosemite Falls. The three sections are known as the Upper Fall, the Middle Cascades, and the Lower Fall.
The sheer power and beauty of Yosemite Falls are best experienced in the spring when the snowmelt is at its peak. During this time, the waterfall is a magnificent spectacle, with thundering waters and mist that fill the air, creating rainbows in the sunlight.
