Bodie Memories

Bodie State Park, located in the eastern Sierra Nevada mountains of California, is a well-preserved ghost town, maintained in a state of “arrested decay.” The buildings, many of which still contain the original furnishings and belongings of their former residents, offer a fascinating glimpse into the past. The town’s streets are lined with weathered wooden structures. These include homes, saloons, a church, a schoolhouse, a hotel, and a jail, among others. The interiors are left largely untouched, with artifacts and personal items still in place, allowing visitors to envision what life was like during Bodie’s heyday.
